Pika

The pika is a small animal (about 5.9-9.1″ in length), with small rounded ears and no external tail. They weigh between 4.2-12.3 oz. They live mostly in colder climates of Asia, North America, and Eastern Europe. Many species inhabit rocky mountain sides with lots of crevices. Some are known to create crude burrows. Pikas are herbivores, eating a wide variety of plant matter. Like rabbits, the pika digests their food twice. After eating, they initially produce soft, green feces. This is eaten again for more nutrition, it’s this second time through that produces the final fecal pellets.
