Komodo Dragon

The Komodo dragon is native to Indonesia. They are the largest living species of lizard, growing up to 10 ft and weighing up to 150 lbs. Because of their size they are the top of their food chain in their habitat. Their diet consists mainly of deer, though they also eat birds and carrion. It has been claimed that the Komodo dragon is venomous due to two glands in the lower jaw that secretes several toxic proteins. Another claim is that their bite is so deadly due to a mouth teaming with bacteria due to the carrion they eat. Usually, a Komodo dragon doesn’t kill their prey on the first strike. But that first bite is so toxic that the animal soon dies. It’s just a matter of following their prey until they succumb.
