Narwhal

The narwhal is a medium sized whale with a large helical tusk protruding from the left upper canine tooth. They live in the arctic waters around Greenland, Canada and Russia. It is one of two living species of the monodontidae family, along with the beluga. It feeds mostly on flat fish under dense pack ice. The narwhal is in danger of suffocation if the sea ice freezes over. Total body size is 13-18′, excluding the tusk. They weigh between 1800-3500 lbs. Rarely, some will have double tusks. Tusks are used in fighting and other aggressive behaviors or for breaking sea ice. They are considered Near Threatened.
