Kudu

There are two types of kudu, the greater and lesser kudu. The lesser kudu is more elusive and rarely seen out in the open. They can be found in Eastern and Southern Africa. Like many antelope, males can be found in bachelor groups, but more likely to be solitary. Males are only seen with females during mating season when they make a big show of dominance with other males by puffing out their necks and making his hair stand on end to make themselves look bigger. They’ll often lock horns to establish the stronger of the two but such displays are generally quick and end peacefully. They are powerful kickers and can break a wild dog’s or jackal’s neck or back. They are also good jumpers, able to clear a 5′ fence from a standing position.
