Killer Whale

The killer whale, sometimes referred to as the orca, is actually part of the dolphin family of which it is its largest member. They are found in all oceans, from Arctic to Antarctic to tropical. The killer whale has a diverse diet and are regarded as apex predators. In the wild, they are not considered a threat to humans, although captive animals have been known to injure their handlers. With their distinctive black and white markings, they are perhaps the easiest marine species to identify.
