Great Blue Heron

The great blue heron is a large wading bird, common near the shores of North and Central America, the Caribbean, and the Galápagos Islands. It has a head to tail length of 36-54″ and a wingspan of 66-79″. It’s between 45-54″ tall and weighs between 4.5-5.5 lbs. they rarely venture far from the water but can sometimes be seen flying over upland areas. The great blue heron usually nests in trees or bushes near the water’s edge.
