Gyrfalcon is the largest of the falcon species. They are dispersed throughout most of the Northern Hemisphere with populations found in North America, Greenland, and Northern Europe. For centuries they have been a prized hunting bird and highly valued among the Vikings. It is also the national symbol for Iceland.
