Here’s a snow leopard cub. Snow leopards are native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia. They can be anywhere from 60 lbs to 165 lbs for a large male. These cats are totally designed for snowy weather. They have thick, dense fur. Their ears are short and round, close to the head to prevent heat loss. Their paws are wide, making it easier to walk across snow, similar to walking on snow shoes. In addition, the fur under their paws is fairly thick, allowing for greater traction on snowy or icy surfaces. They are a top predator but are not above carrion. They are crepuscular, meaning they are most active during twilight. Snow leopards are currently on the endangered species list.
