I believe this is a North American porcupine. There are 29 species of porcupine. They are the third largest rodent after the capybara and beaver. The most distinctive trait of the porcupine is the 30,000 quills, which it can use to defend itself. Other defense mechanisms that the porcupine uses are a strong body odor, which it make make stronger when agitated and a loud clacking noise it makes with its teeth. If all else fails, it can climb a tree to avoid any predators.
