The Malaysian orchid mantis, like all mantises, are masters of camouflage and are usually colored pink or yellow to match the coloration of orchid flowers in their region. And like all mantises, when they are threatened, the Malaysian orchid mantis can bite, though they are not venomous. They can also slash with their raptorial (the front spiky forearms) after an impressive threat display where the mantis rears back and spreads it’s front legs and wings (if present) often times presenting bright, vivid colors to startle an enemy.
