The leafy seadragon is a species of marine fish in the family Syngnathidae, which includes seadragons, pipefish, and seahorses. It is the only member of the genus Phycodurus. They are found off the southern and western coasts of Australia. The leafy protrusions are not used for propulsion. They are for camouflage only. The leafy seadragon is 8″-10″ long, slightly larger than a seahorse. They feed on plankton and small crustaceans.
