The Hawaiian Tomato Hornworm or Hawaiian Tobacco Hornworm, is also known as Blackburn’s Sphinx Moth. At one time, they could be found on all of the main islands. But now they’re only on Maui, Big Island, and Kaho’olawe. They can be found in coastal mesic or dry forest at elevations from sea level to 5,000 feet. It was the first Hawaiian insect to reach an endangered status.
