Here I am starting a new DATED sketchbook. If everything goes as planned, by the end of this year, I’ll have one small drawing for each day. This sketchbook not only poses the DAILY challenge, but it’s also a bit awkward working so very small. In the next post, I’ll put a pen in the shot for scale.
So to kick of 2014, I decided on this baby gorilla and its mother. It’s a combination of ballpoint pen and pencil. I tend to shy away from primates, especially gorillas because they’re so close to human. And people are just plain hard to draw. And hands are hard to draw. That’s no secret. Well primates basically have four hands! Have you seen their feet?? Thank goodness this sketch didn’t have room for more than the baby’s knuckles. 🙂
