The giant Pacific octopus ranges from So California, north along the coast of America’s Pacific Northwest and south to Japan. It’s the largest of the octopus species in the world. Each of it’s arms may measure of 6′ and has an arm span of 14′. The female giant Pacific octopus is usually larger than males. They have a brief lifespan of 3-5 years. Their loose billowy skin is capable of disguising the octopus by changing color, texture, and pattern. Females lay 20-100,000 eggs which she broods over obsessively without eating for 7 months until they hatch. She will die shortly after that. Males die several months after mating.
