The Patagonian mara (Dolichotis patagonum) is a relatively large rodent in the mara genus. It’s also known as Patagonian cavy, Patagonian hare, or dillaby. It is an herbivorous animal found in open and semi-open habitats of Argentina, including parts of Patagonia. It’s monogamous but breeds in warrens shared by several pairs. The Patagonian mara are near threatened due to hunting and habitat loss.
