The leaf monkey is mostly vegetarian, primarily eating leaves and only a small number insects, whereas other monkeys are more opportunistic, eating whatever they come across. The basic social group among them is a matrilineal troop, tracing heritage through the maternal line. Sons leave the troop at adolescence.
