Ringtailed Lemur

Like all lemurs, the ringtailed lemur is endemic to Madagascar. They live in highly social female dominant groups of up to 30 members. To keep warm and to reaffirm social bonds, they huddle together and sunbathe, exposing the thinner white fur on their bellies. They have a variety of vocalizations including an alarm call. The males perform a unique scent marking behavior called spur marking and will participate in stink fights by impregnating their tail with their scent and wafting it at opponents. Lovely.
