Siamese

This Siamese was a commission I did a few years ago for a Mother’s Day present, I believe. She was hiding under a very busy patterned Christmas paper. There are several liberties I will take as an artist and omitting busy patterns is one of them. It’s not because I’m too lazy to do them, but rather I am reluctant to put anything in a drawing that would detract from the main subject matter. In this case, this beautiful Siamese. I will let my clients know my decisions ahead of time of my decisions when they specifically request that backgrounds be included. If they do, I try to minimize those details by making them appear to be blurry or out of focus, such as a camera lens would with a short depth of field. This leaves the main subject the center of attention as it should be.

The owner, Brandon R. was pleased with the results and left a favorable testimonial.
