Inktober 2018 Comes to an End

Until Next Year…

Inktober 2018 comes to an end. It’s a bittersweet feeling for me. It was both rewarding and frustrating. It was what it always is…a challenge.

This year, I can proudly say that I didn’t fall behind at all. I kept up. In fact, there were some days that I did the next day’s prompt to give myself a buffer, just in case.

Some of the prompts left me scratching my head for a subject to draw. I am naturally inclined to draw animals, and, in many cases, I did. But there were some prompts where no animal would fit the word of the day and so I was forced to draw other things. A building, a broken chain, a bear trap, a double-double from In-n-Out Burger. I even drew a person with an unfamiliar brush pen!

But inevitably, I’d manage to make it about animals again. I mean, as long as I was out of my comfort zone using ink, I could at least be in my comfort zone with the subject matter, right?

Well, with another year under my belt and the Inktober challenge successfully completed, I settle back into my normal routine of writing and commissions. If you haven’t tried joining Inktober yet, consider it. It’s fun and it pushes you to try new things. It’s so entertaining checking every day to see what the rest of the world has drawn for the same prompt. If you’re shy about your skills, don’t worry! It’s an event that’s for pros and beginners. And hey, if you start practicing now, you will be more than ready for Inktober 2019.
