Barn Owl

Barn owls are the most widely distributed species of owl, and one of the most widespread of all birds in general. Colors will vary from subspecies to subspecies. The face is characteristically heart shaped and white in most species. It also does not hoot. It has a rather eerie, long shriek. Barn owls are monogamous, sticking with the same parter for life unless one of the pair is killed. They may roost separately during non-breeding seasons but will pair up again, returning to their established nesting site. Like most owls, they fly silently thanks to tiny serrations on the leading edges of it’s flight feathers, which helps to break up airflow and the noise that accompanies it.
